As we approach 2026, you may already be turning your mind toward future travel plans—whether you’re seeking a peaceful respite from the world or longing for the adventure of a lifetime. With so many beautiful places to visit, how do you pick which one is right for you? The stars may be able to guide you in the right direction.
Afar spoke with KJ Atlas, an astrologer who specializes in astrocartography—the astrology of travel—to provide insight into where in the world each zodiac sign should visit based on how the planets and astrological transits will affect them during 2026. Atlas considers concepts like retrogrades (periods when a planet moves backward, usually indicating disruption) to make recommendations for each sign.
Aries (March 21 to April 19)
Aries should head to the U.K. coast.

Best travel dates: July through October, while Jupiter is in fellow fire sign Leo and before Venus retrogrades in Libra, your opposing sign
Saturn continues its journey through Aries in 2026, encouraging you to slow down and appreciate old, historic, and simple things. Atlas suggests a trip to the U.K. coast. “Make it your goal to find the freshest fish-and-chips shack and quietly contemplate as you meander through the coastal fog,” she says.
Taurus (April 20 to May 20)
Sintra in Lisbon offers a romantic getaway for Taurus signs.

Best travel dates: Avoid October and early November during Venus retrograde, and long-distance and group travel
According to Atlas, Taurus signs are in an era of peace and self-regulation after nearly a decade of Uranus causing destabilization. A romantic getaway to the Portuguese hilltop town of Sintra, near Lisbon, is just what you need to get your feet back on solid ground. “Indulge your Venusian side with the best wine, pastries, historic castles, grottos, and gardens galore. This place will make you feel like royalty, which is what you deserve in 2026.”
Gemini (May 21 to June 20)
The Cayman Islands provide ample opportunities for digital detoxes.

When to travel: Early April during Taurus season; September between eclipse seasons and retrogrades
Uranus is the planet of innovation and rebellion, and plenty of changes are ahead as it moves into Gemini on April 25. Atlas recommends rest and relaxation beforehand. “Turn your phone on DND [do not disturb], and head to the white Caribbean beaches of the Cayman Islands for a digital detox,” she suggests.
Cancer (June 21 to July 22)
For adventure, Cancers should head to Mount Shasta in California.

Best travel dates: Anytime except July, when Mercury retrogrades in your sign
Atlas notes Cancer signs should embrace their adventurous side this year. With the planet of spirituality and mind expansion, Jupiter, continuing its journey through their sign constellation, she suggests a trip to Mount Shasta, California. The 14,179-foot peak is considered to be a center of Mother Earth’s energy and one of the most spiritually significant sites in North America.
“Bring a buddy who can match your depth, or head for a solo adventure, connecting with healers and bohemians around the town. You never know who you might encounter,” says Atlas. Take a scenic drive to the base of the mountain, or hike through Hedge Creek Falls to reconnect with nature and spark spiritual rejuvenation.
Leo (July 23 to August 22)
Amsterdam will help Leos shift their perspective.

Best travel dates: July onwards; skip August eclipse season
Leos deserve to indulge all their senses in 2026. “July 1, 2026, marks the beginning of Jupiter’s journey through your sign over the next year, opening up a portal for mind expansion, cultural insights, and major shifts in perspective,” Atlas says. “Push the envelope of what you allow yourself to experience and watch your life crack open with possibilities that linger long after you fly home.”
The astrologer recommends the Dutch capital as a destination to challenge your assumptions. Flip your perspective (and escape Amsterdam’s crowds) by heading to the city’s Noord neighborhood. This eclectic district in a former industrial area is home to the STRAAT graffiti museum and some of the city’s most innovative restaurants. Try the sustainability obsessed Café De Ceuvel and the vinyl-spinning Corner Store.
Virgo (August 23 to September 22)
KJ Atlas recommends Virgos head for the rice paddy terraces of Bali, Indonesia.

After a whirlwind 2025 of purging and reinvention, Virgos still have work to do in 2026, says Atlas. A healing getaway, like one in Ubud, Bali, could help ground you in the new year. “The lush greenery speaks to your earthy nature, and the multitude of fresh food and unconventional healing modalities is just what you need to claim 2026 as your phoenix year,” she says.
Libra (September 23 to October 22)
Libras will find creative inspiration in Marrakech, Morocco.

Libras need to strike a balance in 2026 by cultivating a sense of creative inspiration and sober discipline, says Atlas—and Marrakesh may prove to be just the ticket. “You’ll be lit up from the inside with the bright pigments, artsy history, and sensual delights. Take a stroll through the medina and ponder the next big thing you want to create this year.”
Scorpio (October 23 to November 21)
The coastal town of Malahide, Ireland, will provide Scorpios with rest and relaxation in 2026.

Scorpio signs usually keep things close to their chest, but Atlas believes 2026 is the year you start opening your heart. With no outer planets wreaking havoc, there’s a chance to relax and enjoy yourself. The coastal town of Malahide, Ireland, is the perfect place to do just that. “About an hour train north of Dublin, stroll around the castle grounds, explore the fairy garden, and grab some curry cheese chips and a pint from a chill waterfront pub,” she advises.
Sagittarius (November 22 to December 21)
Mountainous Chiang Mai in Thailand could help Sagittariuses discover new perspectives.

The new year is calling the fire sign to seek adventure and renewed energy in the mountains. “Look no further than Chiang Mai, Thailand,” says Atlas, “to connect with other seekers, find new perspectives, and connect with something bigger than yourself. Uranus will be moving through the sign opposite yours, encouraging you to challenge your worldview and create new pathways.”
Thailand’s second-largest city is packed with ancient temples and night markets, has a bubbling creative arts scene, and offers easy access to spectacular waterfalls located in the mountains.
Capricorn (December 22 to January 19)
Capricorns should plan trips to North Island, New Zealand.

Best travel dates: November and December; April or May for cooler weather (sidesteps retrograde seasons)
“You’re in your season of protecting your peace and creating brilliance behind the scenes,” Atlas says to Capricorns. After decades of inner work, it’s time to showcase what’s been learned. “Celebrate your hike to the top with a nourishing nature getaway on the North Island of New Zealand. Visit the colorful volcanic terraces of Wai-O-Tapu, and stay in a hobbit forest with nearby hot springs for the ultimate recharge,” advises Atlas.
Aquarius (January 20 to February 18)
Singapore’s futuristic skyline awaits those seeking transformation in 2026, according to KJ Atlas.

Best travel dates: May 21 to June 30; avoid February and August when eclipses hit you hardest
This past year introduced Pluto, the planet of upheaval and rebirth, into your sign. With the planet’s decades-long transformative transit now underway, Atlas believes you deserve a reward for your recent glow-up.
“Head to Singapore to stretch your mental limits of what’s possible amidst the stunning, futuristic architecture and city systems. One of the most diverse and intentional cities in the world, Singapore is right up your alley,” she says.
If you’re a Pisces, visit Chile’s Casablanca Valley between September and December.

Pisces (February 19 to March 20)
Best travel dates: September and December; skip March (Mercury retrograde in your sign) and August (eclipse season)
Pisces deserve a break, according to Atlas—and 2026 is a chance to embrace your whimsical side with a clearer perspective. Chile’s Casablanca Valley wine country, where the landscape shifts from mountain to coast in cinematic sweeps, will tap into your romantic sensibilities.
“The coastal fog, briny wine, and soft landscapes will inspire poetry in your spirit,” says Atlas. Alongside wine tastings, Pisces should try cooking classes and take meandering walks through Casablanca’s colorful town center to encourage connection with their creative side.
