It’s overwhelming. Believe us, we know. But amid the barrage of Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals for everything under the sun, there are some seriously great airfare sales that could (and probably should) be the impetus for an awesome 2020 adventure (or two, or three).
We scoured the promotions for reduced fares to extraordinary destinations as well as affordable flights for travel during more enticing times of year (beyond winter). These are the deals we found that have us ready to click and book.
OK, so while this is only about $30 less than a standard, introductory French Bee fare, we actually love this deal for the most obvious reason—Paris. This one kicked off at the start of November and runs through December 12, 2019, for travel between now and March 31, 2020. The fares are for Basic Economy class seats round trip from San Francisco (SFO) to Paris (ORY).
The French low-cost carrier launched in 2017 and has been gradually expanding since then. This fall, it introduced new flights between New York and Paris (that will begin in June but are already bookable), which joined the airline’s existing service between Paris, San Francisco, Tahiti, Reunion Island, and Punta Cana.
The 10-hour SFO-ORY flight is available three times per week, and the Basic Economy fares include one 26-pound carry-on. So, pack light and Paris is yours for just shy of $350.

A favorite among AFAR readers, Alaska Airlines is having a one-day only sale on November 29, 2019, with reduced fares for winter 2020 flights across its entire U.S. network. The lowest fares ($29 one-way) are on its Los Angeles to San Jose route, but we’re most excited about the $89 one-way transcontinental flights from either Los Angeles or San Francisco to New York.
You’ll also find $129 one-way fares from California to Hawaii (city pairs include San Francisco to Honolulu, San Jose to Kona, Oakland to Lihue, and San Diego to Maui). To get these flight deals, you’ll have to book on November 29, 2019, but the travel window runs from January 7 to March 11, 2020.
You’ll also want to pay attention to Alaska’s Twitter account on Black Friday. It’s hosting a giveaway for five pairs of tickets to any of Alaska’s U.S. destinations. Follow along at the #AlaskaHappyHour hashtag for a chance to win.
