La Seine Riverbank

A Walk Along the Seine
The Seine River runs through the city of Paris and is one of the great historic rivers in Europe. It is and always been Paris' heart.

I was staying on the Left Bank in the 6th arrondissement. One morning after my breakfast croissant and bowl of hot cocoa, I crossed the Pont Neuf (Paris' oldest bridge) over the Seine.

I went down a flight of steps to the riverbanks and looked at the houseboats, floating restaurants, and cafés.

I watched the barges, tourist boats, and water buses travel up and down the busy Seine.

As I climbed the stairs up to the quays I walked up one side of the Seine and down the other looking at the attractions such as the Bouquinistes, and the artists who will paint your portrait.

If you love Paris, you would love this time spent meandering the quays and riverbanks of the Seine. Spend two or three hours just enjoying Paris and the river in this gorgeous European capital city.

It would be a shame to miss a walk along the Seine.

A current guidebook is invaluable when touring Paris.

The Seine
A river cruise on The Seine is a unique way to experience the beauty of Paris, especially at night. Boarding at the Notre Dame, we cruised under the bridges, past the Lourve, just in time to see the Eiffel Tower's sparkling dance - performing as it does every night, every hour on the hour, for five minutes.

Drinking in the View of Notre Dame on La Seine Riverbank
The best point from which to view Notre Dame might actually be across the river. On the Island of Saint-Louis, there's an embankment off Quai d'Orleans where I love to hang out with the locals, maybe enjoy a bottle of wine, and watch the sun set behind the cathedral.

Paris was born on this river, and life continues to thrive here with gaggles of Parisians lounging and enjoying the view in deep conversation, playful talk, enjoying serious wine and cheese, or kissing!

This is a must: pick a spot facing west and look around. Learn a lesson! Just enjoy the view and unwind.

The Seine's mystery and joy doesn't stop at the riverbank: walk across one of the bridges and see what you can find!

Wonderful to Do!
This is a great thing to do during the day. There are vendors all along the Seine on the upper portion of the walk way and they sell all types of items from current to antique style post cards to books and watches and other items. It is a great place to walk and the Seine is lovely walk along because there are boats traveling along theSeine. You might even want to take a boat tour.
