In the warm weather months, the Penn’s Landing waterfront area along the Delaware River is always busy with activity. On the Great Plaza there are ongoing free festivals, a summer concert series, a movie series, and 4th of July fireworks. Other attractions here include the RiverLink ferry to Camden, the Independence Seaport Museum, and kayaks and foot-pedaled swan boats available for public rental. In the winter months, Penn's Landing is host to Philadelphia's only outdoor ice rink, the Blue Cross RiverRink.
The dark ship in the photo is the Moshulu, a beautiful four-masted steel sailing vessel built in 1904 by William Hamilton and Company on the River Clyde in Scotland. The Moshulu is currently a floating restaurant docked at Penn's Landing, and the ship is beautifully illuminated at night.
