Stephanie Izard puts together a great restaurant. The Girl and the Goat has been hard to get into since it opened and Little Goat had a 90 minute wait when we went last month. 90 minutes for diner food! That’s impressive. Other things that were impressive? The Fat Elvis Waffles with crunchy bacon bits, sliced bananas and peanut butter sauce. Big enough for 2 people, but who wants to give up any of that deliciousness?? Little Goat is worth a visit but let the newness wear off a bit before you go.

Fulton-Randolph Market District Tour + Brunch at Little Goat
The Chicago Architecture Foundation offers informational tours in many different neighborhoods. The Fulton-Randolph Market tour is a newer tour and my group was lucky enough to be guided around by the creator of tour. We learned about the meatpacking industry’s influence on the neighborhood and the many new developments occurring in the trendy area. At the end of the tour the docents provided a list of popular restaurants in the area. My group already had a reservation at Little Goat, one of Stephanie Izard’s (Top Chef, Iron Chef) restaurants. I enjoyed the Little Goat Latte which had a double shot of espresso and goat’s milk. For food, the Los Drownded sandwich and Parathas Burrito were delicious. The shrimp and grits could have used a more-Midwest portion of grits. The Bloody Mary was also a hit, just be warned it’s spicy! My group drove to the neighborhood on a Saturday morning around 11am and had no trouble finding free street parking. On weekdays, take the L to Morgan St. or an Uber.
