A Scottsdale Tradition: Don & Charlie’s
Don & Charlie’s is a Scottsdale
institution and a name synonymous with spring training (the San Francisco
Giants are among the teams who play here). Owner Don Carson is a bit of a collector and his love for sports is splashed all over the restaurant’s walls – 742 signed baseballs, 300 autographed bats, and something like 82 jerseys. The menu includes barbecue ribs, prime steaks, sandwiches, seafood and pasta, along with uncomplicated sides like onion strings and steamed broccoli. You’ll often find Don floating between tables and chatting up the regulars, but visit during spring training and you’re bound to see a player, coach or baseball announcer throwing back a cold one in the dim bar.
