Agate hunting along Northern CA coast
Agate Beach, in California's Humboldt county, is a favorite spot for agate hunting. The powerful waves here regularly churn up seashells, agates and occasionally a moonstone. Be careful to watch for sneaker waves, notorious in this part of the state. Reach Agate Beach from Patrick's Point State Park. Good place for bird watching, especially brown pelicans. Pack a picnic for a day of beachcombing. Dress warmly; usually foggy along the Redwood coast. Enjoy the quiet beauty of this place.
