The Mission

You will want reservations to get into this place. The Mission Restaurant and Lounge serves modern Latin cuisine in a fantastic bar restaurant with a wonderful outdoor back patio (seen here). The chef is Matthew Carter, also known for the House and Zinc Bistro. For desserts, order the pumpkin bread pudding with scotch, pepitas, and pomegranate.

Southwestern cuisine is a fine combination of Native American and Mexican cuisines. The Mission’s location in Old Town Scottsdale allows you to walk around and shop after enjoying a fabulous meal. Don’t miss the Sunday night roasted pig taco bar. They roast the whole pig for 24 hours underground then shred the meat and serve it with all of the taco fixings every Sunday evening...all you can eat.

Arizona Restaurant Week is like Christmas in September. More than 100 restaurants throughout the state put together special three-course tasting menus (some paired with drinks) for the price of $30 or $40 per person. Scottsdale favorite the Mission Restaurant and Lounge offers great deals for excellent meals during this week. Be sure to stop by if you’re in the area! Seats fill up fast, so make your reservations in advance.

It’s a crime to get so close to the Mexican border and not indulge in at least one margarita. Head to The Mission in Old Town Scottsdale for a killer cucumber-jalapeño variation, accompanied by made-at-your-table fresh guacamole and the best pork shoulder tacos in town. It’s a chic, convivial atmosphere and super popular—so best to make reservations if you’re in town on a weekend.
