The Crack Shack and Juniper & Ivy
Top Chef All-Stars winner Richard Blais has two concepts side-by-side in Little Italy. The fast casual Crack Shack specializes in humanely raised chicken and eggs. The fried chicken is crispy, but not too greasy, and sandwiches like the Malibu Barbie Q topped with a chicken thigh, cornmeal onion ring and pineapple mustard is addictive. The outdoor restaurant with a walkup window also has a bocce ball court and a cocktail bar. Next door, Juniper & Ivy serves shared plates like baby squash with mole verde and a whole roasted duck with beet bbq sauce. It’s their monthly farm dinners, featuring a menu built around a special ingredient like lamb from a local farm, that are one of the best meal splurges in the city.
