San Antonio Underground
Just north of—and a little below—San Antonio are the Natural Bridge Caverns, whose miles of underground passages can be explored in a variety of tours. Lantern tours offer eerie illuminations of the stones, while "Adventure Tours" require rappelling, crawling, and climbing. For those who prefer to seek adventure aboveground, the "Canopy Challenge" straps you into a zipline high above Texas hill country. The "Bracken Bat Flight" experience conquers one last phobia: a few miles from the caverns, visitors observe thousands of bats as they emerge from their cave at dusk.

Natural Bridge Caverns Tour
The historic park of cavern systems is a natural wonder and an engaging park. They offer several types of tours, from ones that follow a guide to others that let you explore with a helmet light. There are also ziplines and obstacle courses for kids.

A popular spot for families, Natural Bridge Caverns sits 30 minutes north of San Antonio and between that historic city and the beautiful town of New Braunfels. Visitors can sign up for cave spelunking, gem and fossil mining tours, a hidden passages tour, and an open air maze challenge—all combining exploration and education with fun. While you are in the area, make time to also visit the Bracken Cave, just a few miles from the Natural Bridge Caverns. Millions of free-tailed bats live here and emerge nightly in the famous Bracken Bat Flight.
