Although Guadalajara’s Día de los Muertos celebrations are world-renowned, the city hosted its first-ever Day of the Dead parade in 2017. From Avenida Juarez to Avenida Chapulepec, revelers danced their way toward the Centro Historico, dressed as skeletons or carrying massive papier-mâché puppets. The city will now host a parade every year on October 28 but, if you’re interested in witnessing traditional ofrendas (altars to the dead) and other typical celebrations, you should make a point to stay in town until November 2, which is the official Día de los Muertos.
