Chileno Bay Resort & Residences, Auberge Resorts Collection
Why We Love It With its mix of low-key sophistication and activity-focused fun, Chileno Bay is arguably one of the best stays in all of Los Cabos
. Highlights: -In lieu of a swim-up bar, a floating bar and games table makes the rounds at the adult-only pool. -Amenities include an 18-hole golf course designed by Tom Fazio and a kids and teens club to keep the younger set occupied. -The service is as good as it gets. Esperanza has become something of a hospitality legend in Los Cabos, so it makes sense that Auberge Resorts’ sister property Chileno Bay has style and substance right out of the gate. Located on one of the area’s only swimmable beaches, the resort makes use of its powdery perch with a watersports center that offers snorkel gear outfitted with GoPro cameras and glass-bottom kayaks, but adventure seekers who prefer to stay on land can hike through UNESCO-protected mountain trails, explore the Baja Outback on camel, or hop on a dune buggy to cruise the shoreline. Of course, no one would fault you for laying low by the triple-tiered pool, which winds down like a river to the beach. Once you’ve worn yourself out, 60 earth-and-sea–hued guest rooms (there are also 32 multi-bedroom villas) provide plenty of plush comfort thanks to bathrooms with outdoor showers and freestanding tubs. Pry yourself away to sample the French Laundry–alum Yvan Mucharraz’s modern Mexican cuisine (mole-crusted ribeye, duck carnitas sopes), then retreat to sprawling fire pit for an ocean view under the stars you won’t soon forget.
