Find Lasting Bliss in Scottsdale
As one of the most serene landscapes on Earth, the desert offers visitors the opportunity to reflect and refocus. The sun, silence, and blue skies have a way of encouraging a reset from the busyness of daily life. This itinerary will help you press pause, take a deep breath, and truly relax. Unlike trips that tend to wear you out, a visit to Scottsdale will leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.

    Day 1
    A Sanctuary in Scottsdale
Your home for your wellness getaway will be the elegantly understated Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain. The 53-acre resort on the slopes of Camelback Mountain places a sense of renewal at the center of everything it does, from the innovative and healthy cuisine served at its restaurant to the Asian-inspired spa treatments. And everywhere you turn, from the infinity-edge pool to the resort’s casitas, sweeping desert views surround you.

After you are settled in your room, enjoy dinner at elements, the Sanctuary’s onsite restaurant, where Chef Beau MacMillan prepares seasonal menus featuring local farmers’ produce for diners to savor along with the surrounding views of Paradise Valley.

    Day 2
    A Sunrise Hike
Make the most of your time in Scottsdale by rising early for a sunrise hike through Scottsdale’s McDowell Sonoran Preserve. This 30,000-acre park located right in Scottsdale has more than 215 miles of trails that cross the desert landscape. Choose from seven major trailheads, as you explore its canyons and peaks—and remember to bring plenty of water, even if you have only a short hike in mind.

After your hike, drive into town for lunch at Flower Child, which serves delicious bowls and wraps, while the drinks menu includes flavored lemonades and kombucha as well as wine and beer—all organic of course!

Back at the Sanctuary, stretch from your hike with some laps in the 25-yard pool or grab a partner to play a few games on the resort’s tennis courts. The resort also has biking maps of nearby routes if you want to explore the area on two wheels.

Later in the day, head into Old Town for some window-shopping and dinner at The Herb Box. The flavorful salads, grilled fish, and unusual shared dishes (like Korean fried cauliflower), means that you won’t feel like you are making any sacrifices by eating well.

    Day 3
    Stretch Farther
Start the day with an energizing Vinyasa yoga session—or opt for a fun acrobatic style of yoga that will have you tied up in silks. The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess offers aerial hammock yoga, while independent studios like Modern Yoga offer single and multi-class pass options on a variety of styles, from Ashtanga to sound healing with gongs.

A lunch at True Food Kitchen, with its organic and vegan/vegetarian menu, can be followed by a detour to nearby Scottsdale Quarter—window-shopping is a form of aerobic exercise, after all.

In the afternoon, treat yourself to the most blissful part of pursuing a healthy lifestyle—a spa treatment at the Sanctuary Spa. The long menu of treatments includes therapeutic and Swedish massages, but also Watsu aquatic massages, Thai treatments, and Reiki sessions. Leave some time before or after your treatment to meditate in the Zen garden. If you are staying at another resort, you can still reserve a treatment at the Sanctuary Spa.
