Homegrown Cocktail
Meet the "Rickey" (circa 1883). Named in honor of "Colonel Joe" Rickey, an influential lobbyist who first popularized the drink at the now-extinct saloon Shoomaker's, it is the official drink of Washington D.C. consisting of gin (usually), sparkling mineral water, and fresh lime juice on the rocks in a highball glass. Though both the man and location are gone, the Hamilton serves up an excellent version of the original drink. Also mint juleps, mules, 22 draft beers, and large selection of wines are available in the 37,000 square-foot bar/restaurant/music space.
