Mud Island River Park gives visitors the opportunity to get close to the Mississippi River while getting their toes wet along every inch of the Big Muddy.
The park's Riverwalk is an exact replica of the entire length of the river from its beginnings to the Gulf of Mexico. The roughly 1,000-mile journey is scaled down to five city blocks. All of the unique contours, oxbow lakes, and other features of the river are represented in the scale model.
In addition to the Riverwalk, the park offers a Mississippi River Museum and monorail rides over the harbor.
The park is generally open April through October.
