Meet the "Rickey" (circa 1883). Named in honor of "Colonel Joe" Rickey, an influential lobbyist who first popularized the drink at the now-extinct saloon Shoomaker's, it is the official drink of Washington, D.C., consisting of gin (usually), sparkling mineral water, and fresh lime juice on the rocks in a highball glass. Though both the man and location are gone, the Hamilton serves up an excellent version of the original drink. Mint juleps, mules, 22 draft beers, and a large selection of wines are also available in the 37,000-square-foot bar/restaurant/music space.
