Pacific Tsunami Museum

130 Kamehameha Ave, Hilo, HI 96720, USA

From the museum’s windows, the sea might look deceptively calm. But as the islanders know all too well, tectonic activity can change that in a heartbeat. This museum’s mission is to provide tsunami education; inside you can discover how seismic sea waves begin and the best practices to follow when one rolls in. But the center also preserves history, serving as a poignant memorial to all who died in the two big Hilo tsunamis of 1946 and 1960.
