Harbour Island is an out island of the out island Eleuthera in the Bahamas. Home to a scant 1,500 people and more golf carts than cars, Harbour Island is the perfect place to get away from it all. It’s also home to the rich and famous who visit for the same reason the rest of us do, quiet relaxation. As soon as I landed on the island I could feel my stress melt away. It’s hard to get too worried on an island with roosters in the street and golf carts whizzing past. Harbour Island is one of those places that quickly occupies a place in your heart and I know I can’t wait for a return visit.
Pink Sands Beach
Finally after almost two months of not traveling I was able to take a little trip to the most wonderful beach I have ever seen, and I was fortunate to get there before a cold front came by. I had two wonderful days of nothing but blue sky and calm waters and lots of grouper fingers and kalik beers. I’ve been coming here for almost 20 years now, and every time I am amazed by its beauty, hope to be back Easter week....
miss universe contest
having been going to Harbour island for the last 20 yrs i always run into a celebrity or some famous people as this is a place where they go to get away from the crowds years before i was there for the sports illustrated swing suit issue and for this highlight i happen to be there when they had the miss universe in the bahamas and they where going around all the different islands ,so i manage to get some nice photos with the contestants and this was one of my favorites miss ukraine, too bad she didn’t win but i believe she was the most beautiful.....
How to give your toddler a deserted island.
Growing up in the Bahamas, I am used to expanses of white powdery sand, untouched by human footprints. Mile upon mile of deserted beach surrounded only by bright turquoise ocean, so bright that your Facebook photos look Instagrammed. This is my norm. Every year I returned home to exhale until I had my son. There is nothing joyous or relaxing about traveling with a wild two year old, but one long weekend introducing him pigs that swim in the ocean, chasing turtles on a Hobie cat, petting rays that he thinks are characters from a Pixar movie, and running and running and running until you reach the end of the land makes lugging a car seat through a crowded airport something you’ll do as often as you can.
