Penny Lane is my favorite pub, by far. Local legend has it that pub owner Terry O’Neil worked as a bouncer for a club in Liverpool in the 60’s, and kicked out John Lennon one night. Whether it’s true or not, who knows, but it’s one heck of a story. Penny Lane is a tribute to all things English. Tons of British beers in tap, football on the telly, and every inch of the walls are covered with some sort of British memorabilia. During the World Cup, it’s the place to be in Richmond, even if England isn’t scheduled to play that day. And of course, there is plenty of Beatles-related memorabilia all over the place, including playing over the actual record player behind the bar.
