Wild Jordan Cafe

Othman Ben Affan St., Amman, Jordan

The commercial arm of the pioneering Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature, the Wild Jordan Center aims to provide income for the rural communities of eight reserves across the country. In addition to a gift shop and tour company, the center operates an excellent café-restaurant, where visitors can enjoy a seasonal menu of both traditional and more international fare. Come at breakfast for the delicious smoothies, or at lunch for salads like the black lentil tabbouleh with parsley, tomato, lettuce, mint, and olive-oil-and-lemon dressing, and enjoy the sweeping views across Amman’s hills to the Citadel.

Wild Jordan Café

You might not expect to find a fine restaurant at a nature conservancy, but the royally supported Wild Jordan Center’s café is a hit. It’s not just the healthy and sustainable Arabic and international foods that draw locals and travelers, but also great views of the capital city’s citadel from the eatery’s deck.

Dessert and a View at Wild Jordan Cafe

Wild Jordan Cafe (Othman bin Afan Street) is a casual restaurant known for its sustainable menu, excellent service and beautiful views of the city. The restaurant is a partnership with the Royal society for the Conservation of Nature RSCN, with a goal to raise money for the rural communities of the RSCN’s six reserves in Jordan: Dana, Dibeen, Shaumari, Al Azraq, Ajloun and Wadi Mujib. While the design and decor of the space is crafted from recycled and sustainable materials, the menu features dishes made with local, organic and healthy ingredients. Expect sandwiches made with whole wheat bread, wraps, soups, salads, grilled meats and homemade desserts (their homemade chocolate cake, shown above, is particularly delicious). Moreover, the dining room features floor-to-ceiling windows for aerial city views, and an outdoor terrace allows you to take in the city -- which is especially beautiful lit up at night with the glowing citadel in the background -- from above. Additionally, Wild Jordan features the region’s largest nature shop selling handicrafts and local products. Overall, Wild Jordan is a unique dining experience anyone visiting Amman should partake in.
