Can’t make it to Lollapalooza? Just wait for The Hideout Block Party. The Hideout Block Party is one of the best - and latest - summer music festivals in Chicago. The two-day festival is held outside of The Hideout, an intimate Chicago live music spot, over a weekend in mid-September. It brings big name acts to to a parking lot between Wicker Park and Lincoln Park for a block party that offers the opportunity to see your favorite acts from the front row without having to pay extra. A wristband for both days is between $30 to $60. In 2012, I managed to catch Wilco, pictured above, Iron & Wine and Wild Belle at the block party. If you go, bring your appetite. The Hideout invites a lot of local food trucks to the party. Take the Red Line L train to the North/Clybourn station, then a westbound 72 bus along North Avenue to Elston and walk north a few blocks.
