Posada by The Joshua Tree House

Why we love it: a photogenic, sun-soaked inn enticing to influencers and design aficionados

- a highly curated aesthetic
- a swimming pool cradled by red rock
- Earthy colors, Moroccan rugs, and desert plants at every turn

The review: This five-suite inn borders the western side of Saguaro National Park, just 30 minutes from Tucson. Its creators Sara and Rich Combs have added another feather to their caps (already impressive thanks to The Joshua Tree House and accompanying book “At Home in Joshua Tree”).

Whitewashed adobe draws the desert sunshine indoors, where it salsa dances with rough-hewn beams and terracotta-hued textiles. Plants help connect the property’s 40 acres of haunting desert beauty with the chic, design-forward interiors. A 5,000-square-foot patio further honors the Combs’ love of blurring lines between the inside and outside. All guest rooms have fireplaces and refrigerators, and most have a private patio or balcony.

Posada by The Joshua Tree House hopes to add a chef-in-residence program, but currently has no food service. Pack in supplies and plan to grill outside, cook in one of the inn’s kitchens, or else head out to local restaurants, including the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum’s just ten minutes away.

Rented via Airbnb, this delightful property can sleep 12 across six beds and two guest-room couches. It also has a pool, rooftop lounge, chef’s kitchen, dining patio, firepit, yoga room, and a projector for movie nights. Book a suite or buy out the whole property for an event, workshop or reunion!
