Normally it’s the wine list that intimidates me - in this bar, it was the beer list. Specialising in Belgian beers, they have several dozen to choose from, and helpfully categorised by style. So long as you can decipher the French words for “fruity” and “dry” you’ll be fine - and anyway, half the fun is experimenting and trying things you didn’t expect. Bookshelves line the walls - as you’d expect in the City of Writing - and there’s even an old pinball machine in the corner. It’s all lovely and basic and rustic, and the focus is very much on the beer. Settle in, and enjoy the free peanuts.
