Reiman Gardens on the Iowa State University campus is a trip in itself...and you don’t even need a passport!
This photo could have been taken in France or Italy or Greece, but it is right in the center of the United States. There are rose gardens, enclosed tropical gardens (a real treat in winter) Japanese gardens koi ponds, and a lively butterfly dome.
Pack a picnic or snatch a snack in the garden restaurant. Indulge in classes or enjoy art show around the grounds, depending on when you go. There is ALWAYS something going on at Reiman Gardens. Enjoy!
Even their web site is beautiful, so check it out for more information.

Is Your World Black and White?
There is more than black and white, of course, but you have to admit, this black and white creature is a natural beauty.
See color in motion when you enter the butterfly sanctuary at Reiman Gardens. Gentle action flits around your head, but sometimes the little creatures just need to take a break from actively showing off for their visitors. That’s when you can get a really good look at them as they rest on a leaf or feed on a flower.
Find intriguing educational displays throughout the area. Garden hosts are eager to answer any questions you might have.
It's a beautiful world to explore in black and white or full-blown color, near home or afar.
