The blue spaceship-like dome of The Polaris bar and restaurant was a fixture on the Atlanta skyline for decades. After opening in 1967 and hosting legendary celebrities like Jim Morrison, it shuttered its doors in 2004.
But the Hyatt Regency worked tirelessly for the past few years to open it up again. The generations of staff who worked here have come back for its modern incarnation, which opened in 2014. They've saved a few of the beloved menu items, like the Peach Daiquiri, and introduced farm to table fare with an emphasis on local ingredients. Honey is taken from the rooftop honeybees. Polaris also has its own bourbon bar.
The revolving can be a bit dizzying, but the walls have cardinal directions so you'll know when you've completed a lap.
Polaris has free valet parking and is within a short walk from the Peachtree Center MARTA Station. Enjoy the elevator ride to the top, which rises through the hotel and opens up into the restaurant.
