Clico Boutique Hotel
The suburb of Rosebank has the best of both worlds: it’s home to major commercial hot spots, but it also boasts peaceful pockets of lush lanes. The understated Clico Boutique Hotel sits in one of the latter areas, but guests will be surprised to discover that it’s just a few minutes’ walk from some of the city’s liveliest eateries and shops.

It’s all about personalized attention at Clico, and the nine rooms make it easy for staff to attend to guests’ every whim. The chef can customize menus, and the staff will dote on guests with a smile—even making sure they toast the sunset with a glass of Veuve Clicquot in hand. When staying in a hotel named Clico, after all, one can rest assured champagne will be flowing freely.

Neighborhood Vibe
Clico is a 10-minute walk from popular Rosebank Mall, and all the restaurants and eateries that come with it. But there’s much more to this trendy suburb than malls. Browse the African Craft Market for eclectic souvenirs, and take a coffee break at Motherland Coffee Company. After hours, party it up at Kong nightclub. There’s a Gautrain station in Rosebank, which means the neighborhood is a straight shot from the airport.

Who it’s best for: Anyone looking for peace and quiet amid Johannesburg’s hubbub.
Our favorite rooms: Room 8 has its own kitchenette, perfect for longer stays. Room 9 has lovely garden and pool views, and it's set apart from the main house—which makes for added seclusion.
Good to know: While you’re not far from some of Rosebank’s top-notch dining, you might plan to stay in one night and try the five-course tasting menu with pairings—dishes include everything from springbok loin to beet and goat cheese ravioli.
