Brekky Done Right
Sydneysiders believe that breakfast (or "brekky") is the most important meal of the day. Look for staples such as toasted banana bread served with jam and ricotta, fruit-topped muesli or porridge, and poached eggs of every flavor. And of course, brekky wouldn't be complete without a quality flat white or long black on the side.

Friendly Suburban Sydney Cafe

Large arrow left

The suburbs of Sydney have some of the best cafes with the most personality. Big Brekky in Petersham, named for the Australian slang term for breakfast, is no exception. It was my first meal in Australia and it quickly became a favorite. The fruit plate, pictured above, is an array of exotic fruits (passionfruit, kiwi, pear, apple, strawberry), topped with yogurt and honey. Eggs any way you like them and freshly baked artisan breads are also great. It's all worth the early morning and the drive to the Inner West.
