Windansea
When you visit this dramatic narrow beach in the wealthy La Jolla enclave, take time to admire, and photograph, the single surf shack. The wooden palapa is one of San Diego’s most important surf culture icons. Soldiers and surfers who served in WWII built the designated historic landmark in the 1940s. The shack gives the beach a more tropical feel. If you want a spectacular shot, time your visit for sunset. WindanSea is also known for its pounding, experts-only surf break, so don’t attempt it unless you’re experienced. It’s fun to watch from atop the beach’s smooth sandstone rocks or you can find a secluded pocket for sun bathing and canoodling.
