The St. Regis
Discreetly tucked away down Dean Street in the heart of Aspen, the St. Regis is a bastion of mountain town luxury. Fresh from an interior remodel (completed in 2012) the property brings urban sophistication to the Rockies. Every guest room features a large marble bathroom with a separate bathtub (perfect for soaking after a day on the slopes). The lobby becomes a social hub in ski season and during big events such as the annual Food & Wine Classic. Order a drink and watch for star chefs as you take in the views of Aspen Mountain. If you’d rather be discreet, sneak away to the Library, and lounge on one of the couches. The signature St. Regis butler service caters to every whim at any hour, from securing lift tickets to scoring dinner reservations. When the weather turns cold, there’s no better place to warm up than the Remède Spa with its hot and cool plunge pools, steam caves, and an oxygen lounge, not to mention some of the best therapists in Colorado.

St. Regis Aspen Resort
The 179-room St. Regis Aspen Resort is the grand dame of this glitzy ski town. Regulars return year after year for the hotel’s hearty breakfast buffet, resourceful concierge service, and Remède Spa. This season the dog-friendly resort will offer you a new way to bond with your pup: skijoring lessons. The sport originated in Scandinavia and combines cross-country skiing and dogsledding. A certified professional dog trainer will assist guests in training their dogs to pull them along on their skis. Guests without pets can skijor with an adopted dog on loan from the Aspen Animal Shelter, and a portion of the proceeds go back to the shelter. From $779. This appeared in the November/December 2014 issue.

The "Lap" of Luxury Stay at the St. Regis
The St. Regis just finished a comprehensive interior remodel in 2012 and it is gorgeous. Every guest room is beautifully appointed with spacious, marble bathrooms that have the bathtub separated from the shower. The room that I stayed in had shutter doors in the bedroom that opened up to the bathtub so you could soak in the tub and look out to amazing views of the mountain. The hotel has many nooks and crannies if you wanted to get out of the room. Grab a drink and a bite to eat at the Shadow Mountain Lodge, a lounge area down in the lobby with pristine views of Aspen Mountain or lounge by the fireplace in the newly created Library with plush couches. The hotel has everything, including one of the best spas in the world, Remede Spa, fitness room, pool, hot tubs and two on property dining options: The Chefs Club and Trecento Quindici Decano. Staying at the St. Regis you are in the "lap" of luxury.
