Singapore Art Museum

71 Bras Basah Rd, Singapore 189555

Given that its collection is entirely contemporary, it’s ironic that the Singapore Art Museum (SAM) is housed in a restored 19th-century mission school. A seven-meter-high (22-foot-high) Swarovski crystal chandelier greets visitors at the main entrance, while beyond, the museum’s focus on local and Southeast Asian art provides an opportunity for visitors to discover artists whom they likely don’t know. In a nearby former Catholic school, the museum has an annex called SAM at 8Q, where film screenings are held.
