Pay a visit to the port wine cellars, located on the opposite side of the Douro River in the warehouses of Vila Nova de Gaia. A tour and tasting will help you distinguish between the different types of port wine (dry white, ruby and tawny among them) and learn more about the Douro Valley, where the fortified wines are produced. Along the river, you can still see the traditional rabelos boats, once used to transport the wine from the vineyards to the cellars.
