Karlín
Following the floods of 2002, this once gritty neighborhood began to clean itself up. Former factories have been transformed into everything from high-design furniture shops to media offices to tasty restaurants. It is the latter that has come to define the Karlín district as one of the city’s foodie hotspots. Located across the river from Holešovice, to the east of the historic Old Town and just through the Žižkov tunnel (Highly recommend coming in this way. The acoustics are wonderful for the occasional musicians who takes advantage), Karlín is home to Můj Šálek Kávy (specialty coffee cafe), tea mountain (gorgeous tea house and shop), Veltlin wine bar, which focuses on natural wines from the former Austro-Hungarian empire, and Eska, a combined restaurant and bakery, which offers neo-Nordic-inspired Czech cuisine in an inviting industrial setting. Add to that leafy streets, a lovely square and church, and you’ve got Karlín.
