Qatar is Home to 6000 Dugongs
Visitors and marine life loves are surprised when they hear that Qatar is home to about 6,000 dugongs, the second-largest population of dugongs in the world after Australia. These shy and elusive gentle giants, similar to manatees, congregate during the winter months in the country’s northern-most waters. As the weather gets warmer, they tend to spread out around the coast. So, if you go diving off Qatar norther-most part, keep your eyes peeled as you might have an encounter with one of these rare marine mammals. For information contact http://www.qatarmarine.net/
