The game is being upped at Three Degrees inside the Riverplace Hotel on the south waterfront. With Kimpton taking on the management, everything about the environment is tasked with delivering a world class stay, including the restaurant. Three Degrees is elegance hiding in plain site. Starting with the engaged, knowledgeable staff, on to a menu that totally embraces local, sustainable fare, throw in the generous river views and you have the makings of an outstanding dining adventure. Don't hesitate exploring the libations, where you'll find a classy collection of cocktails to kick things off. Move on to the appetizers with the hamache teamed with the the green salad; don't be afraid to mix and match. Then have the Spicy Lamb Riblet waiting on deck. These items are available during happy hour in the bar, which offers outdoor seating.
The wine list is impressive, with a rare Shea Pinot Noir by the glass. Dinner selection is led by the braised scallops with baby clams and pumpkin gnocchi. Following closely, find the Pork loin with bacon in a pecan jus, which could have deliciously dispensed with two hearty appetites. While attempting to recuse ourselves from dessert, champagne with floating pineapple sorbet balls found its way to our table as a perfect palate refresher.
Three Degrees raises the bar on hotel dining in Portland. Don't let being a local keep you from gracious guest treatment. Pack up your appetite and bring it in for a delightful culinary experience.
