The Armani Hotel Milano occupies a beautiful, box-shaped 1930s palazzo in the beating heart of Milan’s fashion district. As striking as it looks from the outside, it’s arguably even more glamorous on the inside. Every aspect of its interior, from the mother-of-pearl doors to the leather-lined walls, has been either designed or approved by Giorgio Armani himself. The overall aesthetic is smart and elegant, thanks to the neutral color scheme of beiges and light grays. Special touches abound, including Armani amenities in the gray marble bathrooms, complimentary minibars, and a “lifestyle manager” appointed to each guest upon arrival.
The hotel’s 95 rooms come in various sizes and types, ranging from Armani Deluxe rooms, with their own deep bathtubs, to two-story Armani Signature Suites, which offer stylish central staircases and their own living rooms. The seventh floor of the building houses the impressive Armani/Ristorante, with floor-to-ceiling windows that look out onto Milan’s skyline. An Armani/Bamboo Bar and Armani/SPA provide further opportunities for exquisite in-house indulgence.

Sophisticated Environs for a Sophisticated Meal
I was first exposed to the design of Giorgio Armani at the Golden Globe Awards in the mid-1990s. Jodie Foster and other actresses (maybe Mira Sorvino?) were wearing beautifully tailored Armani suits at the gala, and the color palette made an immediate impression on me. In Milan a few weeks ago during the Salone del Mobile furniture fair, I had the pleasure of having lunch at the Armani. It is everything you would imagine: all sorts of whites, blacks, grays, and an array of gleaming surfaces. The menu at lunch is simple—a few starters and a few mains. The service is flawless and the linens perfectly crisp, much like those suits I remember from way back when.
Where Milan's Fashionistas Stay
A 1930s building by architect Enrico Griffini is now the Armani Hotel, the second urban inn for the Milan-based brand. The city’s fashion set can be found at the Armani Lounge and Bamboo Bar, a lofty hangout with backlit onyx detailing and panoramic views of the Duomo and historic district.

Seen and be Scene in Milan
Hotel Armani’s bar looks like any photo I’ve seen of the designer’s clothing in a magazine- clean lines, neutral colors, and elegance to spare. The cocktail list is long and humorous (the Steve Martini anyone?), but it’s the environs to check out. Visit the Hotel Armani bar to start your own fashion week in Milan.
