Built in 1875 to be the residence of the wealthy Shi family, one of Tianjin’s most prominent clans, this mansion is now a museum offering an inside look at how certain affluent city dwellers lived in the late 19th century. The house’s many areas—bedrooms, meeting spaces and multiple dining rooms—are filled with traditional Chinese furniture and antiques. Walk through the 12 tranquil courtyards to see pavilions, gardens and small ponds.
