Nita Lake Lodge
Couples looking for a romantic setting and a break from the bustle of Whistler Village can do no better than Nita Lake Lodge, Whistler’s only lakeside resort, a five-minute walk to Whistler Mountain’s Creekside Gondola and just under three miles from the village. Each of the lodge’s 77 rooms evokes a feeling of calm with dark wood, creamy linens, leather upholstery, and basalt rock–faced fireplaces; all feature kitchenettes, two-person soaker tubs, and lake or mountain views. In addition, during the warmer months, the lodge offers complimentary kayaks, canoes, paddeboards, and bikes, while the plunge pool and hot tub are available year-round. Even though the lodge provides free shuttle service every half-hour to the village, guests shouldn’t pass up a chance to dine at least once at Aura Restaurant, where many of the greens, vegetables, and herbs in the dishes come from the restaurant’s own rooftop garden. Before dinner, try a craft cocktail at the resort’s Cure Lounge.

Nita Lake Lodge
When it first opened Nita Lake Lodge suffered somewhat for its remote location, except for guests who’d arrived by rail, the train depot is just steps away. Today the lodge is a destination in itself thanks to the new two-tiered terrace that yawns before Nita Lake, the boat launch packed with kayaks and standup paddleboards for guest use, and its location directly on the 25-mile valley trail, a perfect après hike or bike bar. And it isn’t just the signature cocktails that will relax you. The Spa at Nita Lake consults with naturopathic doctor Dawn Gureau, who has created a 7-day wellness retreat as well as hourly holistic treatments. The post and beam rooms, combined with granite floors and many warmed by river stone fireplaces, provide Whistler with its most rustically elegant lodge.
