Arabian Atmosphere with an Abu Dhabi View
Not sure if the taxi driver took me to the farthest cafe on the Corniche in Abu Dhabi for a larger taxi fare, or if he just wanted to drop me at a place with the best view. I ended up at Le Boulanger where I took a rest from my day. A fresh-off-the-plane expat in the middle of apartment shopping, all I wanted was a cup of coffee and something pretty to look at. Rather than the franchise shops or posh hotel cafes on the beach, my kind taxi driver opted to drop me at a more traditional establishment where the smell of shisha permeates the air for 50 meters around and fresh hummus is served with piping-hot bread. With a great location between Abu Dhabi Island and Al Marina Island, I looked back at my new city - and enjoyed the Abu Dhabi skyline full of buildings on the Corniche that weren’t even a thought 60 years ago. For a break any time of day where the atmosphere is lively and rich with smells of food and shisha from the Arabian Peninsula, Le Boulanger is a convenient (and reasonably-priced) stop-off on a tour of Abu Dhabi.
