Satwa is a Patchwork
Tucked behind Sheikh Zayed Road and its skyscrapers, Al Satwa is as cosmopolitan as it gets. Dotted with textile and tailor shops, the area is a hotspot for all your tailoring needs: Patch up an old skirt, tailor a new dress or get a custom-made Indian sari. The textile stores offer rainbows of colors and materials at affordable prices, and their personnel will happily direct you to recommended tailors nearby. Dubbed ‘Little Manila’ by locals, Al Satwa is home to Filipino supermarkets and stores that offer a profound glimpse of Dubai’s multicultural communities. Cap your trip off with a stroll through Al Satwa’s 2nd December Street named in commemoration of UAE’s National Day, and the many artworks gracing the street and evoking Emirati national culture.
