The rooftop restaurant of the Westin Excelsior hotel wins top prize for being the most panoramic spot for a meal in Florence; floor-to-ceiling, wraparound glass allows for 360° views over the entire city to the hills beyond. Luckily, chef Matteo Lorenzini’s superb food lives up to the magnificent setting, so to a backdrop of Brunelleschi’s iconic cupola and the twinkling lights of Renaissance city, you can feast on seared scallops with chestnuts and lime, spaghetti with clams and crab cream and Barbary duck. Lorenzini only took over the kitchen here in fall 2015, but he's destined for great things; this is one to watch.
