Chateau Montelena Winery

1429 Tubbs Ln, Calistoga, CA 94515, USA

Established in 1882, the Chateau has been carefully restored and maintained by the Barrett family (Bo,of Bottle Shock fame, is still making the wine) and was recently placed on the National Register of Historic Places. The winery is famous for making the Chardonnay that triumphed over some of the best Burgundies at The Paris Tasting in 1976. Make a reservation for a library tasting. The wines here are notable for being classic and age-worthy in style — a departure from the rich, voluptuous style of Napa wine that became popular in the ‘90s.
