Ronald’s, a doughnut shop in a Chinatown strip mall, is known as much for what its baked goods lack as for what they have. The main attraction here is a vegan doughnut, with two shelves of the display case full of vegan goodies (éclairs!). Of course owners Henry and Janie Kang bake regular doughnuts too, including favorites like Boston cream, apple fritters, and glazed crullers. Ronald’s opens at 4 a.m. or 5 a.m. daily, making it a great place to stop on early-morning journeys toward desert adventures—or on the way home after a night of fun.
