Nômade TulumWhy We Love It
The low-key, communal vibe belies the high-design interiors.
-The hotel is cash-free, making trips to the ATM virtually unnecessary.
-The chipotle pineapple margarita served oceanfront at restaurant La Popular is vacation in a glass.
-Check in with the concierge to learn about scheduled talks and workshops (sound healing, aromatherapy) led by local practitioners.
Tulum has gone from backpacker’s paradise to jetset getaway in just a few decades, but some of that gypsy spirit endures at Nômade, a beachfront property with 35 palapa-style casitas and tented suites that feature stone walls adorned with hippie macrame hangings, floors covered in antique rugs, and cozy beanbag chairs and woven hammocks. Moroccan tray tables, lanterns, and poufs dominate in the public spaces, including a thatched yoga shala, a Bedouin-inspired meditation tent, and the performance space at Macondo, where you can catch a live act or DJ set after sampling vegan and Yucatán specialties sourced from local fishermen (the chili stuffed with soft shell crab is a standout). Dinners are served at a communal table carved from a single tree trunk, offering equal amounts of physical and spiritual nourishment.
