Hotel CaliforniaIf you've ever heard the Eagles song "Hotel California," you've probably wondered whether it was inspired by a real-life equivalent. Eagles members have denied "Hotel California" is anything other than a metaphor, but that's never stopped visitors to the Baja California town of Todos Santos from assuming its Hotel California gave name to the song. Regardless, the hotel and Todos Santos itself remain fascinating places to visit. Among fun facts: The hotel was the first place in town to serve ice cream.

Stay at The Real Hotel California
The legendary Hotel California actually exists. In the laid back, surfer town of Todos Santos in Baja California Sur, it has a rust-colored exterior and a vibrant and thoughtfully decorated interior that does, in fact, make you never want to leave. A boutique hotel with only 11 unique rooms, the Hotel California also has a restaurant and bar, so if you're just passing through or cannot score a room, you can enjoy some ceviche and a fresh margarita, before heading out for a surf lesson with Mario Surf School at Los Cerritos Beach, just down the way.

You Won't Want to Leave
Colorful Hotel California in the heart of Todos Santos was a wonderful place to vacation. Everywhere you look there's artwork, flowers, candles, brightly painted walls- something beautiful to catch your eye. Our room had an enormous balcony with a peek of an ocean view. At night we could lie on our chaise lounges, sip drinks, and listen to the reggae band playing in the hotel bar down below.

Best Margaritas in Mexico
Margaritas and Mexico go together like Manhattans in Manhattan, Mai Tais in Hawaii, Scotch in Scotland.... you just expect it to be done right. Then you see the bartender pouring sweet and sour mix with Jose Cuervo and you fall into despair. Skip Cabo and try THIS: head north to tiny Todos Santos and the legendary Hotel California. Margaritas in traditional lime, hibiscus, and blended fresh papaya—don't let the smooth taste fool you, these 'ritas pack a punch. Listen to the hourly playing of the Eagles' "Hotel California" several times over while blissfully drifting into a cloud of tequila happiness.
