Bar do David not only defies unsavory images associated with slums such as its own community, ChapéuChapéu Mangueira, but makes tongue-in-cheek reference to it: Try the “favela chic” plate of fried homemade sausages. On Sundays, feijoada gets a maritime makeover, when the pork is replaced with shrimp, octopus, and other seafood. This appeared in the July/August 2016 issue.
