El Bitxo is a tiny restaurant/tapas bar in the El Born area of Barcelona. The handful of tables are smushed together, so it's not for people who want to stretch out, but the candles and dark wood interior make it feel cozy and it has a distinctly local vibe (even though there will almost certainly be other tourists eating there). The staff are friendly and happy to make recommendations. The local charcuterie and cheese plates are good, but the must-try dishes are the salmon carpaccio, marinated in coffee, and the cod carpaccio, marinated in tea. Prices are reasonable, especially given the quality of the food and the atmosphere. Get there early evening to have the best chance of snagging a table.
