Each apartment comes fully furnished, with kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms, and conveniences including wireless high-speed Internet. La Barceloneta underwent a massive transformation in 1992 for the Olympics but has maintained much of its traditional character and charm. Framed by a beach that runs several miles from the busy Port Vell past the upscale Port Olímpic to the Fòrum, the area offers excellent seafood restaurants, such as Suquet de L’Almirall or Can Solé. Amid the atmospheric streets you will also find Mercat de la Barceloneta, said to have some of the best fish in Barcelona.Big tourist attractions such as the Picasso Museum, the Old City, and Las Ramblas are also within walking distance.
Need to Know
Rooms: 17 apartments; from $100. Check-in: Mon–Fri 10 a.m–6 p.m. (outside of these hours is possible but incurs a fee because the office is shut); check-out: 10 a.m. Dining options: Each apartment has a well-equipped kitchen, and while there is no restaurant on-site, guests are spoiled for choice within the area around the hotel. Spa and gym details: There is no spa or gym in the building, but several exist nearby, including Club Barceloneta, Club Barcelona, and Fundació Claror.
Who’s it for: Guests who want a longer stay or more private vacation rental; also highly suitable for families. Our favorite rooms: There is no elevator but quite a lot of stairs to the top apartments, so those with young children, elderly relatives, or lots of luggage might want to ask for a lower apartment. Family-friendly: Near the office is a room for dropping off baby strollers, and free baby cots are available upon request.
