If want a birds-eye view of Machu Picchu, this mountain is definitely worth hiking. It should take around one to one and half hours to hike up. Though, do make sure to buy the tickets well in advance, at least two months before as there is a limit of 400 people per day who can go up this mountain, mostly due to safety reasons. Some of the stairs can be narrow and choosing the early 7-8am entry is recommended, so that you won’t have to move aside for people going down the mountain. The morning hike is also a lot cooler. Bring some water with you, but try not to drink too much since there are no toilets on the Machu Picchu site. You can re-enter the site for a maximum of 3 times that day, but you’ll have to climb down and exit the site first in order to reach a toilet. Get ready for an active and full day, the view at the top is breathtaking!
