Built in the 1930s as a private villa, this boutique hotel was renovated and reopened in 2012 and still provides guests with the feeling they are staying at a welcoming residence. The villa graces a steep hillside across the bay from Dubrovnik’s Old Town, and the stone terraces, vine-covered pergolas, and colorful gardens offer a number of restful spots to enjoy the view of the Adriatic and the honey-colored tiled roofs of Old Town. The 13 rooms—all but one with sea views—have high ceilings and arched windows with white shutters to soften the afternoon sun. The modern bathrooms are stocked with plush bathrobes and decadent Bulgari amenities. Guests will find treats in their room daily, such as fresh fruit and cookies. A bathing platform sits at the bottom of stone stairs, and guests can also take advantage of the outdoor pool at the neighboring Grand Villa Argentina as well as the spa at the Hotel Excelsior.
