Salesian missionaries settled in Punta Arenas in the 19th century, and more than a hundred years ago one of their priests dedicated himself to organizing a collection of historical, cultural and environmental artifacts significant to the Southern Cone. Today, the collection is displayed in four thematic sections: archaeology, ethnology, history and wildlife. Crafts and tools as well as dioramas re-creating past eras are among the attractions. Guided tours are available in several languages, including English.
